Just Messing Around

A couple of my coworkers wanted to learn how to use their DSLRs so I took them back behind UCI and shot around one of my favorite areas. Here are the results from "lessons" about aperture, ISO, shutter speed, depth of field, and composure.

San Diego Comic Con 2010

My first San Diego Comic Con - this was a crazy experience.  My buddy Minh and I picked up a couple of passes from my friend and comic author Chris Long and drove down Sunday to check out what was left of the con.  As you can see from the pictures, it's a nerd's dream.  I even got to meet the author and creator of my favorite graphic novel ever, Hellboy - Mike Mignola.
Feel sorry for Aquaman...do it.
My favorite as a kid
Friendly neighborhood Spiderman
These models were pretty detailed
Naruto
Bartman!
Hellboy...ish?
So confused right now
Pan's Labyrinth
whoa.
Kroenen
Deadpool in trouble with the law...

And the moment of truth - where I finally got to meet Mike Mignola!

Sights and Tastes of San Fransisco in August

Had a really good time up in SF, couldn't believe how cold it was.  Managed to sneak a few shots out of the backseat window in Aseem's car as he drove us around.
Everyone's FAVORITE bodywash
Bum with a Paul Frank sweater
Not sure what this was, but it looked important
Phamtastic view from Aseem's apartment
Shooting from the back seat wasn't easy
Playing around with lightroom
Makes it look so much more dramatic in the fog
Got a great lunch too at La Boulange, awesome sandwiches and fruit tarts.
Slight coffee spillage improves salads
Way better than the flan

Muir Woods Hike

Just drove up to SF with Jenny Phamtastic to visit my good friend, Noah Cho.  He took us out on a hike in Muir Woods, really stunning place.  Apparently everyone in San Fransisco thought so too, we had to park on the street and walk for about 30 mins to get to the place, it was so crowded.  Can definitely see why, though - it was pretty incredible.

Kept hearing about this "junction"
Moss pretty much covered every tree
Furry
Found a few banana slugs
Here's a youtube of the banana slug munching on that clover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvb0tg6khq0 Aseem was feeling malicious, apparently.

We found a lot of "zen" rock piles as well
Ladybugs seemed to be attracted to them
Aseem, Jenny, and Noah being as anonymous as possible
Twisty tree
Thought this looked interesting
All in all, a great hike - was the perfect temperature too.  Can't believe it's around 60 degrees in SF during August, but makes for great hiking with zero sweat.
